OUR LADY OF MONTSERRAT
Our Lady of Montserrat, popularly known in Catalan as the “La Moreneta” (the Black Madonna), is a late 12th century Romanesque wood carving.
THE MONTSERRAT BASILICA
Montserrat has been a holy place for many centuries. The first reference to it dates back to 1025 and on 27 April the Feast Day of Our Lady of Montserrat, who is the Patron Saint of Catalonia, is celebrated every year.
THE ESCOLANÍA DE MONTSERRAT
The Escolanía is a religious and musical institution with one of the oldest boys’ choirs in Europe with documents of its existence dating back to the 14th century.
